When a smoker inhales a puff of cigarette smoke, the large surface area of the lungs allows nicotine to pass into the blood stream almost immediately.

It is this nicotine “hit” that smokers crave, but there is a lot more to smoke than just nicotine. In fact, there are more than 4000 chemical substances that make up cigarette smoke and many of them are toxic.

As these toxins make their way through your body via the bloodstream, they deposit little “souvenirs” here and there. Much of the poison stays in the lungs – its point of entry – but that old blood highway is very effective transport.

Because nicotine is a “close cousin” to niacin (a necessary nutrient), it is able to take up the niacin receptors on the cell walls. And because it is poisonous, it can start a cascade of symptoms.

Cigarette smoke is composed of 43 known carcinogenic substances (including nicotine), and more than 400 other toxins that can also be found in wood varnish, nail polish remover, and rat poison.

All of these substances accumulate in the body and can cause serious problems to the heart and lungs.

There are many ways to take tobacco. You can chew it, inhale it through the nose, and smoke it in the form of cigars, cigarettes, or a pipe. It’s dangerous no matter how it’s taken, but because smoking is the most popular way to consume tobacco, it has also received the greatest attention from the medical field and the media.

Cancer is the most common disease associated with effects of smoking. Smoking is the cause of 90% of lung cancer cases and is related to 30% of all cancer fatalities. Other smoking-related cancers include cancers of the mouth, pancreas, urinary bladder, kidney, prostate, stomach, esophagus, and larynx.

Besides cancer, effects of smoking also encompasses several other diseases of the lungs. Emphysema and bronchitis can be fatal and 75% of all deaths from these diseases are linked to smoking.

Smokers have shorter lives than non-smokers. On average, the effects of smoking take 15 years off your life span, due to the high rate of exposure to toxic substances which are found in cigarette smoke.

The effects of smoking lowers Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) levels in your blood, and artery wall integrity is degraded. So, smoking can be an indirect cause of cholesterol build-up in the cardiovascular system.

Smokers also put others at risk: the effects of smoking – even second hand – are well known. Smokers harm their loved ones by exposing them to the smoke they exhale. All sorts of health problems are related to breathing in second-hand smoke.

Children are especially susceptible to the dangers of second-hand smoke because their internal organs are still developing. Children exposed to second-hand smoke are more likely to experience asthma, sudden infant death syndrome, bronchitis, pneumonia, and ear infections.

Effects of smoking also endanger unborn children. Mothers who smoke are more likely to suffer from miscarriages, bleeding and nausea, and babies of smoking mothers have reduced birth weights or may be premature. These babies are more susceptible to sudden infant death syndrome and may also have lifelong health complications due to chest infections and asthma.

Almost everybody knows that smoking is bad for your health. Images of blackened lungs line school hallways and hospital waiting rooms, but people continue to take up smoking anyway. Maybe it’s the pervasive romantic image of smoking,but that image has nothing to do with reality of the effects of cigarette smoking.

It is never too late to give up smoking; even people who have smoked for 20 years or more can realize great health benefits from giving up the habit.

Commonly found in commercial toothpaste and municipal drinking water, sodium fluoride is a waste product of the aluminum, nuclear, and petroleum-based fertilizer industries. It has historically been used as rat poison and takes a long time to degrade in the environment.

Sodium fluoride (like other metals) accumulates in the right kidney. It inhibits function of the thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, parotids, and pituitary gland. It is a major contributor to premature aging, and greatly hampers the immune system on a physical and spiritual/emotional level.

The production of collagen is inhibited by an over-abundance of sodium fluoride. Collagen is the matrix upon which our bodies build cartilage, bone, arteries and blood vessels, skin, hair, and teeth. You could say that brushing your teeth (with fluoridated toothpaste) is hazardous to your appearance… and your health. It causes weak bones and arteries, and (gasp) WRINKLES!

Fluoridation of municipal (city) water systems began in the 1940′s in the USA. That means second- and third-generation sodium fluoride consumers are now in their adulthood (do you find it interesting that obesity is at an all-time high?).

And because the thyroid houses the “Integrity” Energy Center (thyroid chakra), many people are unable or unwilling to stand in their own power, and oppose what they know to be wrong. So unjust and even unlawful (although officially-sanctioned) practices continue.

If you wish to remove the fluoride from your municipal drinking water, the reverse osmosis process is the only water treatment presently available. Heat distillation, besides destroying the integrity of the water, evaporates and re-condenses sodium fluoride along with the H2o.

If you’re concerned about dental health (as we all should be) calcium fluoride is a natural, non-toxic form easily obtained by drinking green or black tea (Camelia sinensis), or by taking Calc Fluor homeopathic cell salts.

Apply to the inside of your shoes, in the arch (if you put it under the insert, you probably won’t even feel it). This will make your own electromagnetic field, and your immune system, stronger.

One of the reasons I moved to a rural area is that I seem to be highly sensitive to all the microwave and other electrical pollution that is a constant in the city.

But even though the exposure is not as great here in the country, I do use a cell phone (and a cordless phone in my house), watch TV occasionally, am on the computer an awful lot, and my day job is right across the street from a public WI-FI connection.

Mucous membranes are also greatly affected by this mineral. When exposed to aluminum, the sinuses produce more mucous (trying to rinse it out?), creating sinus drainage, which can lead to sore throat and lung congestion.

Sources of Aluminum Toxicity

Aluminum poisoning can come from practically anywhere: beer and soda cans, aluminum foil and cookware, antacids and baking powder (get the NON-aluminum kind to bake with); it’s the active ingredient in anti-perspirants.

Aluminum sulphate is sometimes added to foods to prevent caking, and to municipal water supplies to make the water less cloudy. Safe levels, of course

Using commercial hair dyes, toothpaste, and baby powder can all lead to aluminum toxicity. Remember – heavy metal poisoning is cumulative. Read ingredients carefully.

Chem Trails are another source of aluminum toxicity. Evidently, aluminum (when ground to a powder) can be added to jet fuel without adversely affecting the engines. Maybe this is why Chem Trails seem to glow in the moonlight.

Possible symptoms of poisoning from aluminum include Alzheimer’s disease, forgetfulness, stomach ulcers or stomach pain, chronic sinus problems, low thyroid, kidney problems (especially the right kidney), dry mouth, small, hard stools, babies who cry a lot.

How to Avoid Aluminum Poisoning

If you drink beer, stick to the small, specialized breweries. They’re more likely to be using stainless steel brew tanks and glass bottles.

Avoid sodas; it’s pretty difficult to find a brand that’s halfway healthy anyway. Even the organic ones are mostly empty calories.

Stainless steel cookware is probably safer than its aluminum counterpart; Pyrex® and Corningware® may be better. Practice eating more of your vegetables raw.

Read all ingredients carefully, whether it’s food or cosmetics. Use as few chemicals (read: stuff you can’t pronounce) as is practical.
