Arsenic Poisoning
The toxic effects of arsenic poisoning are cumulative. A highly poisonous metallic (heavy) metal, arsenic is found in pesticides, laundry supplies, pollution, tobacco smoke, bone meal, kelp, beer, seafood, and drinking water. It is commonly given in chicken feed to make the chickens retain water (so they weigh more). After arsenic enters the body, it can cause fluid retention, and is deposited in the hair, skin, and nails. Chronic arsenic toxicity can cause headaches, confusion, drowsiness, convulsions, and changes in nail pigmentation. It primarily affects the lungs, skin, kidneys, and liver. The accumulation can cause coma or death. Sulfur helps to eliminate arsenic from the body. Foods high in sulfur include eggs, onions, garlic, legumes (beans), and cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Acute arsenic poisoning symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, bloody urine, muscle cramps and muscle weakness, fatigue, hair loss, dermatitis, gastrointestinal pain, and convulsions. In case of accidental arsenic poisoning, take 5 charcoal tablets or capsules every fifteen minutes while you make your way to the emergency room. Arsenic exposure has also been connected to the development of certain cancers. Workers involved in pesticide production, agricultural pesticide spraying, copper smelting and mining, sheep and cattle dipping, and metallurgical industries are at a high risk for skin cancer, scrotal cancer, liver cancer, lymphatic cancer, and lung cancer. Every little bit adds up. Back to Environmental Toxins A properly working immune system is vital for the body to detoxify itself.
